Weekend Writing Warriors (#3)

Welcome back to my blog. Here is the next instalment of my interconnected 8 line one-shots. All wonderfully written for the #8Sunday blog hop with the Weekend Writing Warriors (WeWriWa). Find their home here.

Here’s this weeks 8:

The sight before him hurt his eyes; even for a seasoned veteran such him, this was bigger and more painful than anything he’d seen before.

Simon stood leaning half way out of the cab door, the engine’s sirens still calling out into the morning sun, he looked at sheer volume of hurt, pain and loss that was before him. The carnage stretched out before him, as far as the eye could see, his superior reporting that it stretched further still.

Tony threw a hat at him, and he jumped down to join the rest of the team. He had no time to ponder the cause. Boots hit the tarmac running as they began their quest, each knowing the bleak reality.

Today was one of those days. A day where they would struggle against the clocks, fight until there was nothing left, and still go on fighting; a day when no matter what they did as trained professionals they wouldn’t be able to save everybody.

Have you worked out what’s connecting the 8’s so far?

Feel free to leave a note, and go visit some of the other amazing people taking part. I swear they are awesome 🙂

See you next week
